Email Setup: Mac Mail (Mac OS 10.4 Tiger)

In the example below, the clients name is 'John Smith', the name of their domain/website is 'www.mbginteractive.com.au' and their email address is 'johnsmith@mbginteractive.com.au'. Replace the 'John Smith' below with your own name, 'mbginteractive.com.au' with the name of your own website, and 'johnsmith@mbginteractive.com.au' with your own email address.

Step 1:. Click Mail
Step 2: Click Preferences

Step 3: Click on the 'plus' icon in the bottom left corner of the window. 

Step 4: Fill in blank spaces

Account Type: Choose POP from the drop down menu.

Account Description: You can put whatever you like here, we suggest your full email address, 'johnsmith@mbginteractive.com.au'

Full Name: The name you wish displayed when people recieve your emails
Email Address: The E-mail address you are sending email from, johnsmith@
mbginteractive.com.au

Step 5: Click Continue.



Step 6: Fill in blank spaces

Incoming mail server: pop.mbginteractive.com.au
User Name: Your full email address is required, 'johnsmith@
mbginteractive.com.au'
Password: The password you created when you created your email account.



Step 7: Choose Password as your Authentication method and make sure 'Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is not ticked.



Step 8: Fill in blank spaces

Outgoing mail server: smtp.mbginteractive.com.au
Use Authentication: Tick this box
User Name: Your full email address is required, 'johnsmith@
mbginteractive.com.au'
Password: The password you created when you created your email account

Step 9: Click Continue



Step 10:
Make sure Authentication is set to password, click continue



Step 11:
Review the summary provided and click continue. Please note: If SSL is on, we can turn this off the next few steps.



Step 12:
Go to the Advanaced tab.



Step 13:
Double check that your port is 110, and use SSL is NOT ticked. And that Authentication is set to password.



Step 14:
Go back to the Accouts tab, click on Server Settings.



Step 15:
Change your server port from 25 to 587, Make sure Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is NOT ticked. Click Ok.



Step 16:
You've complete your setup of your email account.
